After one hour by car from Vieste it is possible to visit the shrine of Saint Padre Pio in San Giovanni Rotondo and those of Saint Michael the Archangel in Monte Sant’Angelo. The devotion of Saint Pio to Jesus is evident in his commitment to sick and suffering man. The result of this commitment is the renowned hospital ‘Casa Sollievo della Sofferenza’ that guards the places where Saint Padre Pio lived from the top of the town.
There is a feeling of worship, art and tradition by walking down the 88 steps to the deepest part of the dark cave where Saint Michael the Archangel is shining.
